Shop & Dine Local in Tarpon Springs
This isn't Greek-American food. This is Greek food, made by families who've been doing it for generations. Dodecanese Boulevard has one of the densest concentrations of authentic Greek restaurants in the country, and the bakeries alone are worth the drive.
The Food Scene
The Sponge Docks restaurants on Dodecanese Boulevard are the main draw. Fresh grilled octopus, moussaka, pastitsio, souvlaki — cooked by families who brought the recipes from the Dodecanese Islands. Fresh-caught grouper and Gulf seafood round out the menus. Greek bakeries sell baklava, honey-dipped cookies, and pastries you won't find anywhere else in Florida.
Dining along the waterfront means views of the Anclote River. Many restaurants have live Greek music. And if you haven't tried ouzo, the bars on the docks will fix that.
Historic Downtown on Tarpon Avenue adds cafes and restaurants in a quieter setting.
