Dunedin Events & Community

What's happening in Dunedin — the festivals, recurring events, and community gatherings that keep the downtown alive.

Dunedin Events & Community

Dunedin runs on two things: Scottish heritage and spring training baseball. Between the Highland Games, Blue Jays season, and the trail events that keep cyclists coming back, there's usually something going on.

Signature Events

Highland Games & Festival — Spring. Scottish athletic competitions, pipe bands, Highland dancing, and cultural celebrations. Going strong for 57 years. This is the most Dunedin event there is.

Toronto Blue Jays Spring Training — February through March at TD Ballpark on Douglas Avenue. Major League Baseball comes to town. Fans from Canada fill the restaurants.

Scottish Cultural Events — Year-round. Bagpipe performances, Scottish music, and cultural celebrations keep the heritage alive outside of the big festival.

Through the Year

  • Spring: Highland Games and spring training overlap for the busiest stretch. Peak tourism.
  • Summer: Class-A Dunedin Blue Jays at TD Ballpark. Trail events and cycling activities. More local, less tourist.
  • Fall: Community festivals and cultural events. Pace slows, weather cools, locals get their downtown back.
  • Winter: Holiday celebrations, Scottish cultural events, snowbirds arriving from up north.

Recurring Events

  • Weekly farmers markets — Fresh produce and local vendors.
  • Trail events and cycling groups — Organized rides and trail gatherings on the Pinellas Trail.
  • Live music — Regular shows at downtown venues.

Where Things Happen

Most events center on Main Street, TD Ballpark on Douglas Avenue, and the Pinellas Trail corridor. Dunedin's compact downtown means everything is walking distance.
